"One's "alter-ego" is their true self shining through without fear of non-acceptance or shame. We believe that no matter what restrictions one might see, with confidence and execution you can achieve anything you put your mind to. Our Ambassadors are living proof of this!" – Founder, Alter Ego, a DC Extreme Company
Our goal at Alter Ego (a DC Extreme Dance Company) is to positively influence the lives of young girls all over the country through fun, laughter, character, communication, and dance. Our camps are hosted by Alter Ego Ambassadors who have a unique passion for educating and mentoring these future stars. During our transformational camps and events, our goal is to combine dance classes and our unique mentorship curriculum with inspiration from the 2008 Dove Self Esteem Campaign and our certified Child Education Specialists. These camps are designed to inspire young girls ages 6-16 through the overachieving lives of our Ambassadors.
Alter Ego Ambassadors are an elite group of women with professional cheerleading and/or dance experience who leverage their unique experiences to influence the lives of other young women and girls through camps, events, choreography opportunities, and more. Each of our Ambassadors are also wives, mothers, engineers, executives, business owners, volunteers, teachers, and more.
Our Foundation
DC Extreme Dance Company was started back in 2004 by Esther Ayorinde, a Sophomore in college at the time. After a quiet period due to Esther's career pursuits in the corporate world, the organization is back with a new philanthropic twist to help influence the lives of young girls physically and mentally: hence Alter Ego was born. Esther, an immigrant turned citizen from the United Kingdom to the US, grew up with a goal in mind to always strive for her dreams, no matter the circumstances. Though tainted by 3rd degree burns on her right arm from a hot water incident when she was just 18 months old, she always dreamed of being a performer.
Today, Esther has almost 2 decades of dance experience under her belt and has traveled all over the world from Guam to Japan to Costa Rica through her passion for the art. She has performed as a member of 2 NFL Teams (4 Seasons, over 40 Home Games), 1 NBA Team, 3 Notable Hip Hop Crews, her University Dance Team, and choreographed for multiple dance teams, cheer teams, and schools across the country from coast to coast. She continues to support and volunteer with organizations dear to her heart such as her favorite charity "Angel Faces", an organization that provides weekend retreats and support groups for young girls with severe burns or bodily disfigurement. Her passion for dance and seeing the need for attention around self esteem in young girls inspired Esther to gather other inspirational women and build Alter Ego. With all the work, time, resources spent in making the organization a success, the ability to change at least 1 young girl's life will be worth it.
